About
our cakes
All of our cakes are made from scratch on premises from recipes
developed by Chiffonos. We use only the finest ingredients, like
unsalted butter, real eggs, natural flavors and guittard chocolates.
All of our standard cake flavors can be used for your
wedding cake except fresh fruit fillings.
Chiffonos specializes in
"chocolate wrapped" wedding cakes, this is an actual chocolate wrap and
not
fondant. Dark or white chocolate is wrapped around your cake to
create a unique finish that tastes as good as it looks. The
chocolate wrap
can be smooth or ruffled and can be tinted to
your wedding colors. Hand made chocolate roses are also available.
Placing your
order
To ensure the highest quality and because we bake from scratch we do limit the number of
wedding cake orders taken, so please plan well in advance.
A $50 non refundable deposit will hold your wedding date, with the
balance due 10 days before your event. There is a refundable platter
deposit of $10 per tier, which will be refunded on return of all
platters and pillars. Local delivery and set up is $35.
Wedding decorations and embellishments are extra, with many clients
using fresh flowers, cake toppers and ribbons.
Servings and
prices
Wedding cakes come in many
styles, like the classic tiered cake or the more modern stacked
wedding cake. They can serve from fifty to hundreds of guests
depending on your needs and style, sheet cakes can also be used. Our
cakes are a generous 4" tall and come in a variety of flavors,
current pricing starts at $4.95 per guest for wedding cakes. The top tier is not
counted in the servings, it is customarily saved for your one year
anniversary.

What to ask your
baker
When comparing and picking out the perfect wedding cake
there are a lot of things to consider. Don't feel
awkward asking questions, your wedding day is a once in
a lifetime event.
Are your cakes baked from scratch? Believe it or not most
bakeries don't bake from scratch anymore, they use cake mixes, and
many bakeries get frozen prepared cakes from a supplier and resale
them. Chiffonos bakes from scratch on site.
Are your cakes frozen? Some bakeries will make your cake in
advance and freeze it, this can affect the taste and quality of your
cake. Chiffonos bakes your cake fresh and doesn't freeze
them.
How much cake do I get for the price? Cake portions vary from
baker to baker as do the height of the cake. You can compare our
cakes using the chart above.
Chiffonos standard piece is 1"x2" by 4" tall, the top
tier is not included in the servings and is typically saved for your
one year anniversary.
Is my wedding date available, how many cakes do you have that
day, and can you deliver it when I need it? Some bakeries do
many wedding cakes a day and some do a few, ask and make sure you
feel comfortable you will receive the cake you ordered when you need
it. Chiffonos limits the number of wedding cakes per day to
ensure
quality and delivery time.
Is my wedding cake just dropped off, or will it be decorated?
Some bakeries will not place flowers on your cake, they will
leave it up to the florist to finish it.
Chiffonos works closely
with you on the design of your cake, so we will decorate it with
flowers unless you specifically want your florist to do it.
Do you guarantee your cake will hold up throughout the
reception? Some things are out of your bakers control, like
heat, humidity, lighting and cake placement. Most cakes should hold
up for several hours in normal conditions.
Since Chiffonos cakes
are wrapped in chocolate they are best suited for indoor events or
when cooler outside. We have good working relationships with many
outdoor venues that accommodate our cakes by placing them in their
coolers until needed.
Are you licensed to do business? Businesses involving
food preparation in CA must be licensed and can not be run from a
home kitchen. A legitimate business will be able to show you their
business license, health permit, and sellers permit - you should
also be able to visit their kitchen. Using an "at home"
baker can result in serious issues, including
unsanitary conditions, lack of refrigeration, and risk of not
receiving your wedding cake. Chiffonos is licensed to do business
in the state of CA and has all permits on view at our cafe. |
